Pyhä-Luosto activities
The four distinct seasons of Lapland each put on their own colourful display and create varying environments for activities. Winter throws a blanket of snow over the forests and fells of Pyhä-Luosto whilst colouring the sky with Northern Lights. With the snow comes the opportunity to enjoy husky and reindeer safaris, snowmobiling, snow carting, snowshoe walking, ice fishing, dining in a snow restaurant, smoke sauna and swim in an ice hole – along with good Alpine and cross country skiing on kilometres of well groomed cross country ski tracks.
Spring dawns with longer daylight hours and the sun sparkling off the snow; the onset of summer ushers in nature pulsating with life and colour under a Midnight Sun – a popular time for canoeing, berry picking, hiking, fishing, bird watching, hunting, digging for a lucky stone in the only operative Amethyst mine in Europe; and finally as nature begins to slow in preparation for winter, autum time with forests a palette of autumn shades and the start of season for reindeers herders to gather and mark their reindeer.
